At least 20 people were injured in West Bengal’s Midnapore after a makeshift tent collapsed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally on Monday. The Prime Minister visited the injured in the hospital.

Straight after the rally in Paschim Medinipur, PM @narendramodi went to the local hospital and enquired about the condition of those who have been injured.

PM Modi was earlier seen asking the supporters, who were crowding the tent, to be careful just before starting his address. PM Modi teared up while meeting one of the injured, reported ANI. BJP’s Amit Malviya also tweeted that one of the injured woman asked for the prime minister’s autograph and PM Modi obliged.

The injured have been admitted to the hospital, an official said, adding that the number could rise. After addressing the rally, the PM went to the hospital to visit the injured.
