Silapathar Incident: Subodh Biswas granted bail

PUBLISHED:

Subodh Biswas, the main accused in the vandalism incident at Sarupathar where a mob vandalized the office of the local AASU unit in March, 2017, has been granted bail by Gauhati High Court.

Biswas, the president of a little-known linguistic organization named the Nikhil Bharat Bengali Udbastu Samannay Samity (NBBUSS), was arrested following the vandalism incident at the AASU office at Silapathar in Assam’s Dhemaji district on March 6 last year.

He and his close aide Subash were arrested from North 24 Parganas in West Bengal after absconding for around two weeks.

Subodh is accused of instigating a mob that later vandalized the AASU office and creating hatred among two communities with his provocative speech.
