Amid a raging controversy surrounding a campaign in the social media to boycott Assam singing megastar Zubeen Garg ahead of his May 20 performance at Lumding Bihu celebrations, Zubeen said he will perform at Lumding as scheduled and that he is “half Bongal”.

“I have heard about a boycott call or something by some people. It’s nothing. I will perform at Lumding on May 20 as scheduled. I am not against Bengali-speaking people. In fact, I am half Bongal (Bengali). I had lived in Karimganj for eight long years,” Zubeen Garg said while performing at Sivasagar yesterday.
