Bandhs hit normal life in Assam

Chakka bandh called by Motor Transport Union and 24-hour Assam bandh called by AKRSU paralyze normal life. The chakka bandh has affected normal life especially in Guwahati as public transport buses were off the roads.

However ASTC provides some relief to the people by plying its buses throughout the State adding some extra buses within the Guwhati city. The Motor Transport Union has been called this chakka bandh seeking revision of fuel prices. The strike is supported by various organisations.

The 24-hour statewide bandh called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Koch-Rajbongshis and separate Kamatapur State brought normal life to a standstill in various parts of Udalguri district and Kokrajhar on Friday.

Besides, Scheduled Tribe status for Koch Rajbonghsis, the students’ union has been demanding creation of a separate Kamatapur State by bifurcating six districts from north Bengal and 15 districts of Assam.
