Rahul Gandhi hugs PM Modi in Parliament

PUBLISHED:

Congress president Rahul Gandhi did something that was unthinkable; something anyone had hardly imagined. The Congress president walked into the aisle of Parliament after delivering a fiery speech during the no-confidence motion and hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leaving the entire house stunned. PM Modi, who was also unprepared for such a moment of camaraderie, reciprocated by hugging him back and then gave a pat on the back of the Congress president.

Prior to the bear hug moment, Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the BJP, RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a host of issues, including the Rafale deal and demonization, and questioned PM Modi’s “silence on crimes against Dalits and minorities”.

Prior to walking down the aisle and giving the prime minister a hug, Rahul Gandhi said: “Aap logon ke andar mere liye nafrat hai, aap mujhe Pappu aur bohot gaaliyan dekar bula sakte hain, lekin mere andar aapke liye nafrat nahi hai [You (BJP) have hate in your hearts for me, you call me ‘Pappu’ and hurl abuses. But I don’t have hatred against you],” Rahul Gandhi said.

Meanwhile, the BJP has decided to move a privilege motion against Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha over his “false allegations”.

On the other hand, while Congress MPs defended Rahul Gandhi’s accusations as well as his act of hugging Prime Minister Modi, BJP leaders came down heavily on the Congress president, some of them even asking him to join the film industry.
