Headless body of woman recovered near Kamakhya Temple

In a very shocking incident, the body of a woman with the head severed from the torso has been recovered near the Kamakhya Temple. The body of the woman who is believed to be over 40 years of age was recovered at the stairs leading to the Jai Durga temple situated within the Kamakhya Temple complex today (June 19) evening.

Reports said it appeared as some sort of religious ceremony (puja) was performed at the the place where the body has been recovered leading to speculations of the incident being a possible case of human sacrifice.

Reports further say eyewitnesses saw inscence sticks and an earthen pot near the body of the woman although there has been no official word.

Neither has the identity of the woman established till the filing of this report.

Incidentally, the recovery of the woman’s headless body comes three days ahead of the annual Ambubachi Mela that will get under way on June 22.

Hundreds of sadhus and lakhs of other devotees are making a beeline to Guwahati for the annual religious congregation.

Police have already begun a probe but are yet to make any official statement on the recovery of the body.
