Adil Hussain wins Amanda Awards, dedicates it to Goalpara

PUBLISHED:

Assam-born actor Adil Hussain received the prestigious Amanda Norwegian National Film Awards for Best Actor in a leading role for the Norwegian Film ‘What Will People Say’ (2017) on Saturday in Norway.

Receiving the award, the actor said, “Grateful to have received the Amanda Awards”. He dedicated the award to the people of Goalpara (where he hails from) and all those who believe that Art Can Break All Boundaries of All Kinds. It may be mentioned that Adil Hussain is the only Indian actor to be nominated ever and win the prestigious award.

‘What Will People Say’ has been directed by Iram Haq. The coming-of-age drama is a personal story of the writer-director, whose first film, I Am Yours (2013) was the official entry to the Oscars from Norway. The film had its world premiere at the 42nd Toronto International Film Festival on 9 September 2017.

Adil Hussain, who played the role of a doting yet controlling father in the film, has already won the Kanon Award at Kosmorama film festival, which is Norway’s equivalent of the Academy Awards.
