There seems to be no respite from the sweltering heat in Guwahati and other parts of Assam with the maximum temperature in the capital city recording a maximum temperature of 39.2°C, seven degrees above normal while the minimum temperature would be around 26°C.
However, with high humidity levels, people felt like the temperatures were in the mid fourties.
Temperatures in other places in Assam were also hovering in the high 30s making life miserable for people.
People were seen having fruit juices as roadside outlets selling fruit, cane and coconut juices made good businesses.
“The heat is really unbearable. It’s really impossible to go out of our houses and work. I hope it rains,” Partha Das who works at a private organization in Guwahati said.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Borjhar, Guwahati, has predicted rainfall in various parts of the State that is likely to bring down the mercury level in the coming days.
