Mobile app to check crime against women by Assam Police

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police is working on a mobile application for women where, through an SOS alarm, the police could respond to women in danger or trouble. This will be a free-to-use application according to a report published in Assam Tribune.

The objective of this application is to improve the reaction time and help in anticipating crimes or wrongdoings against women.

The application is inspired by ‘Himmat’ — a Delhi Police initiative. The app is being developed by the same team who have done it for the Delhi Police.

According to the report, the app will also have Assamese language to make it easier for people to understand and communicate.

The SOS alarm, when raised, will transmit to the police control room (PCR) and then to the nearest watch party or the police headquarters to respond said the report.
