Ambubachi: 100 ASTC buses to ferry devotees from camps

Guwahati: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration has pressed over 100 vehicles for duty during the Ambubachi Mela starting 22nd June here in Guwahati.

These vehicles will ferry the devotees from their camps at Pandu, Naharbari, Badipara and Fancy Bazar to the base of the Kamakhya Gate. From there devotees will have to walk to the Kamakhya Temple premises.

District Transport Officer, Bapan Kalita said, “We have arranged 100 buses (ASTC) for transportation during the Ambubachi Mela. There will be 20 metro-share taxis. There will also be 20 Toyota Innovas and 5 Mahindra Boleros for transportation services.”

“The Innovas and Boleros will be used for transporting the VIPs and VVIPs. The metro share taxis (Tata Magic) will be for old-age people, ladies, children and divyangs,” said Kalita.

“As there are no VIP passes this time, so devotees will have to walk to the temple from Kamakhya Gate,” said the DTO.

The vehicle service will start from morning 6 AM and will continue till midnight said the DTO.
