Headless body probe: Murder out of superstition, police say

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati Police have hinted that the recovery of the headless body of a woman at Kamakhya Temple premises could be a possible human sacrifice claiming that the “murder took place due to superstition”.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar said the incident appeared to be fallout of superstitious beliefs and that the person committing the crime could be known to the victim.

“Initial investigation suggests the murder has been due to superstition. We have found several commodities used during a puja. A blanket has also been found. The body has been removed from the place and taken for an inquest and other forensic tests” Deepak Kumar said.

“The woman was probably drugged before she was murdered and then behaded,” he added.
