The AGP is likely to go solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with the BJP on Monday claiming that differences between grassroots-level workers of the AGP and the BJP are almost impossible to be bridged before the upcoming general elections.
Assam Finance, Health and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said considering the differences between many workers of the two parties, it would be safe to say that the BJP will refrain from aligning with its erstwhile alliance partners.
Amid the announcement from the BJP leader, former two-time Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, who is vehemently opposed to any truck between the AGP and the BJP, said the AGP will go solo in the elections. He also expressed optimism that the party will do well in the polls.
Meanwhile, AGP leader and West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita said the party will field candidates in around 10 seats although the the names are yet to be finalized.
