At least 10 people were injured, three of them seriously, in a blast inside a coach of the Kamakhya-Dekargaon Intercity Express near Harisinga railway station in Udalguri district around 7-7:30 pm today (Dec 1). The blast took place inside coach number four of the train with passengers claiming that the explosive could have gone off from a bag that was kept inside the coach by an unknown person.
Senior police and NF railway officials have already reached the place where the blast took place and have begun investigations. However, neither the nature of explosives used to trigger the blast nor those behind the explosion has been ascertained so far.
Three of the injured people have been identified as Khiroda Bora, Rahul Das and Kuldeep Patowary. Rahul, whose injuries are said to be serious, has been rushed to the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) for better treatment.
No militant organization has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion.
