Heavy rains lashed Guwahati today (Sep 20) leading to waterlogging at various places. The rains that lashed Guwahati and its outskirts around 12:30 in the afternoon led to flash floods and waterlogging at Srimanta Sankardeva Path (GS Road), Ganeshguri, Kahilipara, Panjabari, Zoo Road, Nabin Nagar, Anil Nagar and several other places.
People had a tough time as they were stranded at various places following the heavy rainfall that was accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Movement of traffic was also affected following the flash floods.
“It’s pathetic. Everytime rains lash Guwahati, it leads to waterlogging. Our lives have become pathetic. The government seriously needs to do something to minimize waterlogging and flash floods,” Noyana Das, a college student, told News Live.
Apart from other flood-prone localities, there have also been reports of waterlogging inside the old MLA hostel complex with water entering a few houses as well.
